Losing locks for love

SIX months ago Jodie Croft’s life was turned upside down.

She was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and has been having chemotherapy since then.

Her two sisters, Ange Driscoll and Rachel Croft, are now doing something to help the Leukaemia Foundation that has done so much for their family. Ange and Rachel are shaving their heads tomorrow night and are also hosting a fun night out at the Royal Hotel.

Inverell band Party at Drakes will be the entertainment from 6pm and the big shave is going to take place at 6.45pm. Jodie, who is 26, was expecting to lose her hair after her second treatment, but she is up to her sixth and it hasn’t gone completely, but it has thinned out.

“When we planned the shave, we thought Jodie was not going to have any hair left either so we wanted to do this to support her and raise money for a good cause at the same time,” Ange said.

“Even though she hasn’t lost it completely we are still doing our part to support.

“We are also going to have colourful hairsprays so kids who come along can be part of the fun.

“It will be a real family night and we are hoping for as much support as we can.”

Jodie said the Leukaemia Foundation had really helped her through.

“They have paid for accommodation when I have needed to go to appointments as well as travelling costs to and from Inverell and the various appointments,” she said.

“The emotional support they have given me and education about the disease.

“My life has changed a lot since my diagnosis in March and they have really helped me out a lot.”

Which is exactly why the event is being held to raise money for the foundation.

Entry tomorrow night is a gold coin donation and the girls are also hoping to receive donations for losing their locks.
