New equipment for hospital

Operation Operating Room, an Inverell based charitable organisation has recently donated almost $10,000 to provide the Inverell Hospital with much needed equipment.

Thanks to the fundraising efforts of Macintyre High School and the community Operation Operating Room has donated the funds for two pieces of equipment off the Hospital’s wish list.

Macintyre High School year 12 raised $4000 for Operation Operating Room to buy the Inverell Hospital a new ECG machine through an entertainment night, and collecting donations from the community and local business houses.

Year 12 fundraising organiser Ben Keightley said he was astounded how well fundraising went for the students.

“We are only quite a small year to raise this much has been amazing, we want to thank everyone who donated, it is such a worthwhile cause.

“We decided to raise money for a new ECG machine after one of our classmates needed one and it wasn’t available.

“We have been encouraging the years below us at school to raise money for Operation Operating Room when they get their turn.”

Operation Operating Room contributed $1590 towards the cost of the ECG machine, which Acting Health Service Manager Kath Randall would remain in the Inverell Hospital for its entire operating life.

“Whenever we get equipment from Operation Operating Room it stays with us no matter what, if someone tried to take this machine they would have a hard time with half the emergency department staff and me hanging on to it.”

Operation Operating Room has also donated an Alaris Pump worth $4600 to the Inverell Hospital.

An Alaris Pump delivers fluids, medications, blood and blood products continuously or in intervals and can be used on adults, babies and children.

Tax deductable donations can be made to Operation Operating Room at Baker’s Barn in Vivian St, Inverell.

JOB well done to collect the funds for the Inverell Hospital. However, this should be the responsibility of Governments to provide decent health care. But why should they as long as the population continues with fund raising, the pollies will say "time for another raise".

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
