INVERELL detectives arrested a 17-year-old Armidale teenager on Sunday after a violent home invasion late last week.
The teenager allegedly forced entry into a home in Roslyn Avenue at Armidale and was found at a residence in Old Bundarra Rd about 11am.
He was taken to Inverell Police Station and charged with one count of special aggravated break and enter, four counts of malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, one count of kidnapping and one count of goods in custody.
Police said when the teenager broke into the Armidale home, he was confronted by two female occupants and allegedly armed himself with a knife.
The 21-year-old woman received a stab wound to the upper thigh during the incident, while a 16-year-old girl was stabbed in the foot and leg.
The girl was then walked from the residence at knifepoint, before the male fled the scene on foot.
The injured teenager managed to raise the alarm by contacting the occupants of a nearby home.
She was treated at the scene before being taken to Armidale Hospital where she underwent surgery.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old woman was also taken to the local hospital.
They remain in a stable condition.
Acting on a tip-off from a member of the public, Inverell detectives were able to arrest the 17-year-old male.
He appeared in Armidale Children’s Court yesterday.
