Tigers hope for repeat of victory over Magpies

THE Tingha Tigers will be hoping for a repeat of last weeks upset victory against the Glen Innes Magpies when they face them again this Saturday at Glen Innes.

Tigers Secretary Chris Curtin said the team has had a boost in confidence since last week’s victory but they would not be trying to be heroes on the paddock.

“We are hoping for the same result as last week, we are more than confident that we will perform again but we are not going to rushing in and making mistakes.

“If we play to the same game plan we did last week and keep the ball away from Glen, the natural flair of Will Jerrard and Ray Craigie will shine through and we will have an ideal set up.

“The boys had a great training session this week with another on tonight, (Coach) Macca (Nathan) Blacklock is very pleased with the way the boys have been training this week and we are going in with a full strength team.

The Magpie had an unbeaten run of 13 games until last week, and Curtin said the Tigers were under no illusions as to Glen Innes’ strength.

“I am expecting a huge game and a huge crowd there on Saturday, Glen Innes is going to be fired up and out for blood.

“The minor faults they displayed in last weeks game will certainly be ironed out for this game and they will be looking to settle the score.”

The winner of Saturday’s clash will host the Grand Final and the loser will play the winner of the Inverell Hawks v Uralla Tigers match at home.

“This is going to be a tough game, the Magpies have Jason Ferris, we have Macca, both have been coached by the best and it will be down to the smartest team on the day winning the match.”

Team: Will Jerrard, Shane Sheather, Hamish Brown, Ray Craigie, Gabriel Boota, Nathan Blacklock (c), Brayden Dwyer, Marcus Woodbury, Nathan Fenton, Paul Leitinger, Lukee Buxton, Craig Curtin, Brendan Anderson.
