Ryles reels, Ogre waits

ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA prop Jason Ryles says he felt as if he'd had "12 schooners" after being belted by Mark O'Meley - but didn't want to see the Roosters prop miss a finals match over the high shot.

The Roosters will enter the finals without Willie Mason after the Test star suffered a season-ending knee injury, and also face the prospect of losing fellow forward O'Meley after he was placed on report for collecting Ryles high in the win against the Dragons on Friday night.

Ryles had little recollection of the first half due to the collision but bore no hard feelings towards O'Meley.

"I just remember getting a solid knock and then getting up - it felt like I was trying to play footy with 12 schooners in me," Ryles said yesterday. "Stuff like that isn't intentional, especially from Ogre, he goes in hard all the time."

O'Meley also believed the hit didn't warrant suspension after watching a replay of the incident yesterday.

"He was falling and I hit him with my wrist and forearm," O'Meley said.

"It was awkward but, after the game, all of the coaching staff thought it was fine. I'd hate to lose a semi-final over it." Ben Creagh is the only Dragons player in doubt for the finals after he was severely concussed in an off-the-ball collision with Setaimata Sa, who might also come under scrutiny from the match review committee for the hit.
